Toyota, GM Recall Vehicles Over Crash Hazard

The number of auto recalls continues to increase.

Two of the top automakers in the world have recently launched recall campaigns that impact thousands of vehicles. Consumers who have been directly affected are urged to make sure they are not exposed to any potential personal injury risk by promptly responding to the recalls and heeding the manufacturers’ instructions.

The first recall released recently with the help of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration impacts all units of the 2015 Buick Encore vehicles. According to General Motors, the vehicles impacted by the recall were manufactured between November 27, 2014 and February 24, 2015. The vehicles have been associated with certain problems that could lead to crashes due to their steering column assembly housing. Since the housing may contact the power steering printed circuit board, the device may end up experiencing problems as a result of the wear.

If the wear happens, drivers may experience a sudden loss of electric power steering assist. This issue could increase the risk of an accident.

Impacted vehicle owners are being contacted. Once the vehicles are inspected, the steering column assembly will be replaced if necessary. While the official notification schedule hasn’t been announced as of yet, consumers with the recalled vehicles may contact Buick directly to ask more details about the recall.

Crash Risk Also Prompts Toyota Recall

According to the NHTSA, the recall campaign launched by Toyota impacts 2,497 vehicles nationwide. The recalled cars include the 2012 through 2014 Rav4 EV vehicles that were assembled or produced between July 24, 2012 and August 29, 2014. The impacted vehicles come with software that could experience an issue with a crucial part of the Electric Vehicle Traction Motor Assembly. As a result, the vehicle’s electric propulsion motor may suddenly shift to “neutral,” which could then result in a loss of drive power. The loss of drive power could increase the risk of an auto accident.

The impacted Rav4 vehicle owners are being contacted in April, but a full remedy to this issue hasn’t been developed yet. According to Toyota, once it’s available, it will be provided for free to all impacted vehicle owners.

The number of auto recalls has been increasing after 2014 turned out to be the number one year for auto recalls in the history of the US. Do not delay in responding whenever you’re impacted.
