The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration continues to launch auto recalls despite the increasing difficulties related to the rise in the number of recalls being launched nationwide.
As automakers are pressured to make sure their vehicles are not exposing drivers to any risks by checking the equipment is secure before the vehicles leave the factory, more auto recalls are launched over problems that expose others to safety risks.
The latest auto recalls launched by two of the most popular carmakers in the country include vehicles that may expose consumers to serious personal injury risks.
The first recall campaign we believe our readers and clients should be aware of was launched by Hyundai with the help of the NHTSA. The recall campaign impacts 128,804 vehicles that were fitted with front passenger seat belts that may have been produced with buckle latch assemblies that may not allow the front passenger to fasten the safety feature.
The vehicles impacted by the Hyundai recall include the 2015 Sonata vehicles that were produced between April 25, 2014 and December 4, 2014. Because the units may have not been fitted with seat belts that will secure the occupants won’t experience any serious injuries in the event of an accident, the risk of deadly consequences is great. Hyundai has announced that it will be contacting impacted vehicle owners and that the front passenger seat belt buckles will be replaced or repaired entirely for free.
The company should begin contacting impacted vehicle owners on August 21, 2015. If you own one of the recalled vehicles and you experience an issue with your seat belt, you’re urged to reach out to the manufacturer or the NHTSA to report the incident. Also, contact Hyundai to learn more details about how you should proceed to have the issue addressed promptly if the company doesn’t contact you in the future.
The second recall campaign was launched by Ford. And according to the official NHTSA report, not too many vehicles were impacted. Nevertheless, drivers who were impacted are urged to stay alert and heed the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
According to the official report, Ford Motor Company recalled a few dozens od the 2015 Transit vehicles over an issue with the seat belt assemblies.
While the problem impacts seat belts, something that happened with Hyundai vehicles as well, the issues are different.
According to the official announcement, the vehicles manufactured between March 1, 2015 and April 10, 2015 were fitted with seat belt assemblies that come with labels that do not expose the required belt model and model year. The seat belts come with “prototype sample” labels instead.
The company has indicated that the fact this issue represents a failure to comply with important federal requirements, the driver may found that, in a moment where a safety issue materializes, the seat belt model or year make won’t be available. As a result, their safety may be jeopardized.
The company has indicated that it will be contacting the impacted vehicle owners. New labels with the correct information will be fitted when Ford representatives travel to impacted vehicle locations. All replacements will be carried out for free.
